Portrait Workshop

In June 2022, we partnered with local artist Jazmin Herrada to host a virtual workshop on figurative drawing and portraiture. In this workshop, Participants will learn key elements of completing a figurative portrait, such as understanding value, structure, and proportions. Viewers will learn how the artist uses portraiture to convey identity while exploring a subject’s individual, community, and cultural identity. Finally, participants will create an original work of art using objects/items that represent themselves.

Before you start, gather some of the items that you’ll need:

  • Drawing pencils (or any pencil you have available)

  • Drawing paper (or any paper you have available)

  • Eraser

  • Personal item

  • Satin finish spray can (optional)
